The Ateljee is one of the cornerstones of Finnish design — designed by Yrjö Kukkapuro in 1963 and still in production today. The oak frame holds generous cushions in place without fuss, and the deep red velvet gives this particular example a warmth that the more common leather versions don't have. The design is as comfortable as it looks and has aged gracefully.

Good vintage condition with light marks on the fabric and two buttons from the right armrest has teared from the fabric. As they sit hidden beneath the cushioning, they are barely noticeable in use. One of the rubber support straps has a bent locking mechanism; a replacement strap is included with the piece. The remaining straps are all in good order. The frame is solid as well as the cushions and the chair has many good years left in it.
