Originally designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, the LC1 armchair—also known as the ‘Basculant’—is a defining icon of modernist furniture design. Reissued by Cassina in the 1960s, this example bears the engraved Cassina signature and serial number (LCM 14431), confirming its authenticity and collectible value.

The chair exemplifies the modernist pursuit of balance between form and function. Its polished chrome steel frame supports a seat and backrest in black haired leather, paired with matching leather armrests. The natural texture of the hide brings warmth and individuality to the sleek structural lines, while the spring-mounted backrest provides flexible comfort.

In very good vintage condition, the piece shows only light wear to the armrests and minor, age-appropriate signs of use. The chrome remains bright, the leather supple, and the straps and springs well tensioned. Minor areas of hair thinning are consistent with age and do not detract from its appearance or integrity.

An authentic and highly collectible edition of the LC1—an enduring masterpiece of Bauhaus-era modernism that unites architectural precision with tactile richness.
