Paavo Tynell co-founded Taito Oy in 1918 and went on to become the defining figure of Finnish lighting design. The Model 5305 first appeared in the Taito catalogue in 1935 and reflects the Bauhaus thinking of the period: a curved chrome arm, a domed black enamelled metal shade and a weighted round base, adjustable at both the base and the shade. Simple, functional, and still completely at home on a desk today.
